Letter # 3 - Jan and Jaantje Rubingh have now settled on their farm near what was then called Fremont Center (today called Reeman), west of Fremont, Michigan. Jan’s sister Heigiena never married, I believe, and her few letters are usually very brief and she shares very little about herself in contrast to her mother and two sisters.

Dear Brother and Sister,

Now that I have opportunity to write you a little, I really have no news, so I want you to know that I am still healthy and wish you much blessing in your marriage and hope that you may live with one another for many years in good health. I wish that we may see one another sometime. I have been to our Dominee to give him your address. He said that on a subsequent occasion he would like to write you, but he could not do it right now.
